Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory. for ever and ever. Amen
Because I think it is beautiful. And because lately I have been searching for something to grasp on to.

It really is beautiful. I remember hearing it all for the first time in the somber burial-at-sea scene in Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World and wondering about how it must be so comforting to have it be one's anchor in the middle of the ocean on the other side of the earth from your loved ones, buffeted by storms and somewhat rudderless on your journey. And I realised that that sea journey was a rather apt metaphor for life. :)
Indeed :)
This was our prayer at school assembly every morning. :)
I wish it had been mine. Ours was 'Make me an instrument of your peace', which I never ever liked.
