Your rain-soaked lips
Tendrils dripping,
On your neck.

Somewhere in the darkness
Someone murmurs your name,
And sleepwalks in a prayer.

Eyes dipping into forbidden cases
Mother-of-pearl earbobs and white sloping shoulders.
Ecstasy in a perfume bottle.

An oblivious candle.
A gust of wind.
A lingering sigh.

Surely a presentiment
Of what was to come.
Oh well.
